Joe Root's optimism To play home test against west indies
England captain Joe Root says that he is very "Optimistic" that Test cricket will take place
in his side's 2020 home season even if that means the squad has to go into more than two months' of quarantine.
With Britain currently in lockdown due to the corona pandemic, a three-Test series against the West Indies scheduled for June has been postponed, with Pakistan due to visit later in a season whose start has now been delayed until the 1st of July at the earliest.
In a bid to salvage the maximum lucrative matches following a warning from England and Wales cricket board (ECB) leader government Tom Harrison
that a very wiped out season may want to value the board £380 million ($469 million,
some reviews have advised an expanded squad of up to 30 could continue to be in camp for so long as 9 weeks, with tests played in the back of closed doorways.
Joe Root stated so long as the British authorities relaxed lockdown policies sufficiently to let the fits cross in advance a few international suits should yet be salvaged from an otherwise probable barren campaign.
"I am very constructive, hopefully, that may be the case and it'd be a real disgrace if it wasn't," he advised the cricket show on sky sports on Thursday.
"I think several people are eager to see live sport back on television and the guys are all very much missing the playing and would love to get back out there."
Root, who saw England reduce short an excursion of Sri Lanka in march due to the risk of COVID-19,
praised the latest input of ECB medics as he put stress: "safety is paramount and we want to make sure everyone that is involved is safe.
I am sure that these discussions will proceed and we will get more info. and hoping so that cricket will be back on and international cricket being played."
